Tony Lai

Campus Minister
University of Toronto (St. George Campus)

Staff since: 2006 (volunteer since 2002)

Tony works with internationals at the University of Toronto and throughout the broader downtown community. He engages conversations about faith, academic study and life as an immigrant or international student.

Tony has a heart for people who feel like strangers in a foreign land after immigration, particularly students with English as a second language. He also recognizes challenges that second and third generation immigrants face.

Tony has studied science, social science, theology and philosophy. He is currently interested in cross-cultural neuroscience and enjoys mangling audio samples. One Bible verse that guides Tony’s work is Romans 12:13 (NIV): Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality (the word translated hospitality – philoxenia means love of strangers).
