IFES Nominates New Leader

“We are rejoicing with the news that the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) has nominated its next General Secretary,”

said Nigel Pollock, President of InterVarsity in Canada. “We give thanks to God for calling Chris Clarke to lead us into this next chapter of reaching students around the world with the Gospel.”

Chris will be officially voted into the position at the IFES World Assembly in July in South Africa. He succeeds Daniel Bourdanné, who has led the movement since 1990.

“When I arrived in New Zealand to lead the Tertiary Student Christian Fellowship (TSCF) movement, Chris was honorary President and his wife, Karen, was Chair of the Board,” said Nigel. “They are good friends of mine and I have valued their wisdom and encouragement through the years. Chris has significant gifts and will make a fantastic contribution to this role.”

Chris is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Theology and is a Praxis Visiting Scholar at Green Templeton College in Oxford. Previous to this he was CEO of World Vision in New Zealand. He has a strong commitment to growing Christian leaders who are biblically based, socially aware and globally engaged.

More details on his background and hopes for the future of IFES are available here.

InterVarsity in Canada was one of the founding movements of IFES in 1947 and continues to be wholly committed to the vision of seeing students built into communities of disciples, transformed by the Gospel and impacting the university church and society for the glory of Christ.
