Cover the Summer in Prayer

Let’s pray over camp, every single day of the summer.

It’s the first day of summer camp. After prayer, briefing and a unifying cheer in the dining hall, the summer staff are at their marks. Teens decked in STAFF t-shirts run to their positions to welcome campers at entry roads and cabin doors. Cars line up, carrying kids with butterflies in their stomachs and eyes wide with excitement.

Camp schedules are carefully printed and posted. Bike chains are greased, horse saddles prepped, canoe paddles hung – all ready for campers to enjoy. The smell of freshly baked cookies pours out from the kitchen. Energetic music fills the entrance way.

We are ready.

And, we need God’s help.

We prepare comfort food and cozy cabins, but only the Holy Spirit can prepare the hearts of campers to be ready to receive the Word.

So we pray.

We can double-check our stockpiles of wood, marshmallows and water balloons, but only God can give the gifts of kindness, grace, peace and patience.

So we pray.

Every year, when we invite thousands of campers through our gates. We get in over our heads, in the best way. We are prepared, but to truly see lives changed, we need the help of God Himself. Would you pray with us this summer?
