Multicultural/Multi-Ethnic Ministry

Canada is fast becoming the most ethnically diverse country on the planet. People from all nations and cultures have made Canada their home. Now many bicultural Canadians are in Canada’s high schools and universities.

Inter-Varsity’s Multi-ethnic/Multicultural Ministry is dedicated to deliberately reaching out to members of visible ethnic groups by sharing, in equal portion, the hope-filled message of Jesus Christ while embracing their ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Inter-Varsity believes that all ethnic cultures are relevant and all believers are of equal importance and value in the body of Christ.

The Multi-ethnic/Multicultural Ministry is also dedicated to providing opportunities for members to build friendships across ethnic/cultural divides to work together to promote Christian witness, discipleship and service that has meaning to members of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Asian Students on Kampus [ASK]
At the University of Alberta in Edmonton, ASK is a strong, vibrant Inter-Varsity campus fellowship ministering to the spiritual and cultural needs of bicultural Canadians who are Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, and Japanese. ASK has helped Asian-Canadian students find new relationship with Jesus, satisfy their hunger for biblical truth, and grow their Christian leadership capacities.

Inter-Varsity Korean Christian Fellowship
The ministry to Korean-Canadian students was strengthened for future growth as the KCF ministry joined Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada in November 2006. Inter-Varsity’s KCF campus groups operate in Ontario at the University of Toronto – St. George Campus, York University, the University of Western Ontario, McMaster University, the University of Waterloo, and Queens University.

Aboriginal/First Nations Student Ministry
Inter-Varsity is carefully laying foundations for campus ministry attuned to aboriginal/first nations students beginning by learning aboriginal history, social context, and language. It is our priority to be mentored by aboriginal Christian leaders associated with My People International and NAIITS (North American Institute for Indigenous Theology & Study).
