Since 1929, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada has been actively involved in helping young people live a transformed life in Jesus Christ. What began as a simple idea of students gathering for prayer, bible study and witnessing to their friends has grown into a vibrant ministry spanning more than 60 university and college campuses and Inter-Varsity Pioneer Camps in six provinces. The purpose is to see students and campers changed for a lifetime.
Pioneer Camps are building an incredible foundation in campers’ lives. On the surface, parents have shared that their sons and daughters return from camp changed. They have been exposed to valuable relationships with others their age and great role-models. The fun, activity and adventure of a Pioneer Camp experience build skills, confidence and strong character in them. What’s more important, campers come face to face with God’s creation and are dramatically impacted as they begin to understand the nature of the Creator.
Year after year, Inter-Varsity reconnects with adults who express that their Pioneer Camp experience was a seed planted for a life-long faith in Jesus Christ.
On campus, students are exploring how God fits into their lives.
Staff are walking alongside students on campus, living through their struggles and joys. Together they are building witnessing communities that are instruments of change within Canada’s academic institutions. Students are learning how to live out their faith and share it with others. These students will become Kingdom leaders; men and women who will impact people and the world as they become the next generation of missionaries, business people and law-makers.
A part of God’s global community.
As one of ten founding members of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (a network of student movements in over 150 countries) Inter-Varsity Canada is passionate about the transformation of youth.
Students are gaining a world view as they travel to other parts of the world through Inter-Varsity’s World Services’ Global Partnerships. They are experiencing life and faith from an unfamiliar perspective and are learning to see the world through God’s eyes.
Every three years, Canadian students participate in the Urbana Student Mission Convention. This is a chance for them to interact with their peers from all over North America, sharing in worship with more than 20,000 like-minded Christ-followers. They are encouraged by God’s global mission and have the chance to hear God’s calling for their lives. For six decades, students have made life-long commitments to missions through their experiences at an Urbana convention.
